Websites look like they do for a reason. They are, in the main, built using templates and the templates themselves are created in vertical and horizontal lines. Boxes in other words. Lots and lots of boxes.

 

Another reason is that boxes make life a heck of a lot easier when it comes to responsive design – all that resizing and moving around – life (or at least cohesive website design) gets tricky when you start to think outside of the box.

 

Which isn’t to say it can’t be done.

 

We love the way that website design is so driven by the limitations of the form (and constantly pushing at those limitations too). Yes, it means a brand new website feels pretty passé, pretty quickly, but it also generates websites like these:
