Having seen our own business grow from a one-man band to a multi-service agency (with a range of leading Welsh brands on our client list) over the last six years, we are always keen to support the growth of innovative business ventures across Wales.

Earlier in the month the Hello Starling team were honoured to be a part of the judging panel for the 2014 Monmouthshire Business Awards (commonly referred to as the ‘Welsh Business Oscars’), sponsoring the Excellence in Marketing award.

The awards celebrate cross-industry excellence amongst local businesses in the county of Monmouthshire, acknowledging success in organisations of all sizes, from startups to established corporations.

We were ever so impressed by the quality of applicants, and especially enjoyed learning about the experimental and strategic marketing work emerging from Monmouthshire businesses.

It was the Chepstow based organisation, Mabey Bridges that won the Excellence in Marketing award on the night. The leading specialist of steel bridging infrastructure, wind turbine towers and heavy-plated structural steelwork impressed us with their emphasis on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The organisation demonstrated a clear appreciation for the value of marketing both for the business itself, as well as the greater community. Mabey Bridges add value to society by investing time, money and talent into education programmes and restoration projects in the local area.

The award ceremony itself was a wonderful occasion (and a great opportunity to put the glad rags on) and our marketing executive, Angharad Edwards, was delighted to present the Excellence in Marketing award to Jane Campion and Roslini Patel of Mabey Bridge. She was equally enthused to sample all available canapés and house wines. Multiple times.
